Mario Susko
Mario Susko (born 1941) is a witness and survivor of the war in Bosnia. His most recent collections areClosing Time (2008), Epi/Logos (2011), and Framing Memories (2011). He is an editor and translatorof major American writers, including Saul Bellow, Bernard Malamud, and Kurt Vonnegut. In 2012 he was named Long IslandPoet of the Year by the Walt Whitman Birthplace Association and also elected member of the Croatian Academy of Sciencesand Arts. He is the recipient of numerous awards, among them the 1998 Premio Internazionale di Poesia e Letteratura"Nuove Lettere" (Italy) and the 2000 Tin Ujevic Award for the best book of poems, Versus Exsul, published inCroatia in 1999. He is a Professor in the English Department at Nassau Community College, New York.
